I am working on the MCLAMB'S. My great grandmother was Bessie Lavinia MCLAMB
(b. 1889) of Newton Grove, NC. Her father was Sir William MCLAMB (b. 1862),
and boy is he a hard one to find. Whenever I ask for record copies or whatever
I have to say that his first name really was Sir. It's an amateur genealogist's
nightmare:-). Anyway, I have been told that Sir Will's parents were Nathan
MCLAMB and Betty Ann STEWART. I am having a terrible time of tracking this
line down. Do you have any pointers? Anyone working on this same line? Any
help is appreciated and I will share all the info. that I do have.

I am the great-grandaughter of Nancy Lee RAY and Lenn EDGE. Their daughter
Minnie Mae Edge WILLIAMS was my grandmother and lived in Autryville until
her death in 1991. All I know of her childhood is that she possibly grew
up in the White Oak area which would either be Sampson County or possibly
Bladen or Cumberland depending on the dividing line for the county at that
time. My grandmother Minnie Mae Edge WILLIAMS was born3/3/1907 and was married
to John Dewitt WILLIAMS of Autryville, North Carolina. John DEWITT Williams
was born 3/14/1894 and died 11/20/1975. He was the son of Rosa Leigh Lane
Sessoms WILLIAMS born 9/25/1870 and Evander WILLIAMS born 12/5/1864 and died
5/16/1923.Also, if anyone out there knows anything of Rosa Leigh Lane SESSOMS
Williams parents I would appreciate it. The information I have is that her
fathers name was possibly Willie or William LANE and that he was possibly
a Dr. who came to the United States from either Holland or Germany. One of
the things I have been fortunated enough to inherit is the trunk he brought
with him when he came to the United States I would really appreciate any
information anyone could provide me with. Thank you very much.

Searching for information on the children of Rice MATTHIS (b. abt. 1745-d.
1797) and Civility GOFF. It is believed that their names were John, Edmund
and James, however I have found no documented evidence to prove their link
to these parents. The 1790 Census lists Rice as head of household with three
sons and three daughters. Sampson County Court Records show that Civility
filed for adminstration of estate after Rice's death in 1797, but no children
where named. The NC State Archives, Sampson County and Duplin Counties have
no records of the administration of estate, so apparently it did not survive
time. Any help will be appreciated.

Could you please email me back any information regarding my being able to
contribute. My grandmother was Minnie Mae Edge WILLIAMS also of Autryville.
I would like to make my contribution in her memory if possible. I absolutely
thrilled to find a web site from Sampson County. I am a new pc owner and

CURLEE, KEEN posted
by Sam Price on Saturday, January 24, 1998
-
I am looking for any information you might provide concerning the ancestors
of John KEEN or Elizabeth CURLEE. John KEEN was apparently a revolutionary
soldier, his widow Elizabeth Curlee KEEN moved to Laurens County, Georgia
in the early 1800's. She drew land in the Cherokee Land Lottery of 1838 as
the widow of a revolutionary soldier. I understand that John Keen's will,
written by him December 7, 1803 is on record in Sampson County. His family
may have been from Wayne county for there are some references to Goldsboro
in family records. John KEEN and Elizabeth CURLEE had five children: John
Jr., William, Young, Nancy Jane and Mary (Polly).

in the 1870 Duplin County federal census. All were former slaves. Memebers
of the same family had different surnames. We are trying to find out what
white famiies living in either Duplin, Wayne or Sampson counties could have
been the owner. The following surnames were taken by our ancestors, and we'd
like to try and identify the owner. Were there any slave holding families
in Sampson County who had any of the following surnames: CROW KING WRIGHT
