Will of Soasbe Johnson
In the Name of God Amen-I Soasbe Johnson of the County of Sampson in the
State of North Carolina being weak in Body but of Sound Memory Calling to
mind the Mortality of My Body and knowing that it is Appointed Unto men to
Die do make and Ordain the following to be my last will and Testament_ (That
is to say) first I give and Recommend my Soul to almighty God and my Body
to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian manner-and as to Such Worldly Estate
where with it has pleased the Lord to bless me in this life I Give the Same as
follows.
First I Give and Bequeath to my Beloved wife Sarah Johnson all my personal
Estate(that is to Say) all my Stock of Cattle Horses Hogg(SIC) and Sheep
during the time of her Natural life Except So much as will Make Each of My
Childrens Shear(SIC) Equal with those that have already(SIC) had, and So much
as will Discharge the Debts which I am Justly Oweing(SIC) also My Negroes to
Remain in her possession During her Natural life, and after the Desseas(SIS) of
My Beloved wife Sarah then the property which Remains to be Equally Divided
Amongst My Heirs-
And lastly I appoint my Son Soloman Johnson and E. Herring Executors of this
my last Will and Testament and do Revoke all former Wills in witness Where
of I Said Soasbe Johnson have hereunto Set My hand and Seal the 28th day
of Augsut 1822
