EDWARD VANN WILL of 1770, BERTIE COUNTY N. C.
In the name of God amen April the forth day one thousand seven hundred
and seventy I EDWARD VANN of Bartie County being Sick and weak of Body
but of sound and perfect memory praised be almighty God for it do make
and ordain this my last will and testament and form following that is
to say first and principally I Commend my Soul into the hand of almity
God that gave it having the Death and merits of my Savior Jeasus crist
to have free pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins and to inherit Everlasting
Life and my body I Commit to the Earth to be buried in A Decent manner
according to the Decression of my Executors hereafter Named and as touching
my Temperal Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I Give and
Dispose as folloeth
Item I Give my son WILLIAM VANN my Plantation and Land that I live on
also Reserving the use of the mentioned Land and plantation to my wife
MARY VANN
Item I lend my Loveing wife MARY VANN one Negro woman nane During her
life:
Item I give my Daughter MARY VANN after my wifs Death the Negro woman
Nane that I lend to my wife:
Item I Lend my Son WILLIAM VANN these Negros named Dick & tarte
nat and Beck tel my Son King Vann coms to be twenty one years Old Only
I give my Daughter ELISABETH the Negro gall Beck to receive her when
maried or comes to twenty one years of age:
Item I Leave my Son WILIAM VANN all that is due to me and the use of
them Negros that I lent to him to Pay all my Debts & funal charges
and mentain his mother and younger children
Item I Give my Son KING VANN one Negro tarte
Item I Give my Daughter SARAH VANN one Negro name nat
Item I Give my Son WILIAM VANN One Negro named Dick
Item I Give my Son CADER VANN One peice of Land lying on the South of
Rockquis Swamp Lying between Thomas Pearys line & Hary Hills line
Likewise I Give my Son CADER VANN one Negro woman named Pat:
Item I Give my Son KING VANN one peice of Land lying on Cashi Swamp:
I Give CADER VANN one cow and Calf one heffer & one bed & firneture
one Iron pot
Item I Give my Loving wife MARY VANN one Bed & firneture
I Give my Son WILLIAM VANN One bed and firneture I also lend him the
Use of my Stock during the time as he has the Negros lent to him after
that the Stock is to be Devided Amonghts WILLIAM VANN ELISABETH MARY
SARAH & KING and
Lastly nominate & appoint my Son WILLIAM VANN my Executor of this
my last Will and Testament Utterly revkeing all Other will or wills
that hath beean made by me hear to fore in witness Whareof I have hear
unto Set me hand and fixed my Seal
