FAMILY BIBLE RECORD OF EDWARD W. STRICKLAND OF SAMPSON CO., NC COPIED BY DONNA SHERRON SENT TO ME ON 8 JULY 1983, FROM DORIS STRICKLAND FLOWERS TRANSCRIBERíS NOTE: This note was sent to me along with the Bible record: Anyone who might be interested in the Edward Strickland line, I will write what I learned from my own family. Nathan Strickland was the father of Edward. Edward Strickland was born in Johnston Co. NC in the Four Oaks Area. After he married Elizabeth Thornton they lived in the Newton Grove Area of Sampson Co., NC, between 1840 & 1850 Nathan Strickland moved to Sampson Co. NC. I found this out from the census records. My Uncle (now Decíd) told me that Nathan lived to be 107 yrs old. I have not been able to verify this but I do know that he was 82 yrs old in the 1850 census of Sampson Co., N.C. Another Uncle told me, that Nathan has a tombstone at his grave, put there by his youngest granddaughter Suzy (Strickland) Johnson. My Uncle said the cemetery was located between Four Oaks and Smithfield, NC. From my own research, I have learned that Nathan was married 1st to Elizabeth Harrell 28 May 1793 in Johnston Co. NC. And he married Edith Smith 29 Feb. 1804, in Johnston Co. NC. (Edward was decended from Nathan and Edith) third to another Elizabeth, I got this from the 1850 census Sampson Co. NC. They didnít start keeping marriage records until after 1865. My Uncle also told me that Edward Strickland had two sisters one was married to a BELL and the other one to a COLEY and that Edward and Elizabeth were buried at Eureka Church in Wayne Co. NC.
